Dear NZ Veterans, please welcome NZ Malaya Veteran 36147 Jim Dove RSIGS, RNZSIGS.
Jim has been the sole driving force behind Kempsey (Mid-North Coast NSW) services and commemorations including NZ acknowledgment and participation.
Furthermore, Jim secured the approval of the Kempsey Museum to host an NZ Veteran Corner for display and memorabilia.
We have known of Jim for many years but today finally got the opportunity to personally meet Jim and his wife Mary at the Chatswood RSL Club after they flew down from Kempsey.
Jim invited us to meet with him because he wanted to present us with a “Lest We Forget” Clock as a token of his appreciation of the ongoing camaraderie he has with NZ Veterans and the fond memories he has during his time with the NZ Defence Force.
The President of the NZ RSL sub-Branch Dr Allan Watt RNZIR kindly accepted the very generous offer and thanked Jim for his support.
Also supporting the presentation was NZ Cambodia Veteran John Hallett RNZIR, 96 Year Old NZ WWII (Egypt/Italy) Veteran 279154 Capt (Red) Bruce Harris and 92 Year Old NZ WWII (Bougainville/Guadalcanal/Korea) Veteran 479873 Ken Frank.
Thank you so much for your very generous gift Jim and we wish you and Mary a very safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year.
